 World War II Technology
 mid 1930s - 1940s
Konrad Zuse - German - developed and built the first binary digital computer in the world, the Z1 in 1938 and in 1941 built the Z3 which was first fully functional program-controlled electromechanical digital computer in the world.

Alan Turing - British - Turing worked with the COLOSSUS, which quickly and efficiently deciphered the German codes created by the Enigma.

John W. Mauchly - American - invented the ANIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), a classified military project during WWII, which demonstrated that high-speed digital computing was possible.

Winston Churchill - Prime Minister of Britain. His fierce opposition to Nazi Germany transformed him into a war leader during WWII.

Franklin D. Roosevelt - President of the United States. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he joined forces with Great Britain and USSR to defeat Germany and Japan in WWII.

Adolf Hitler - Leader of Germany - Invaded Poland in 1939, triggering WWII. He was extremely racist, which led to the infamous Holocaust, exterminating millions of innocent people.

1939 World War II begins following Germany's invasion of Poland.

The British at Betchley Park cracked the Enigma code for messages being sent from German U-boats.

The British Colossus reduced the time to break Lorenz messages from weeks to hours in time for deciphering messages, which gave vital information to U.S. Generals Eisenhower and Montgomery prior to D-Day.

The Holocaust with millions of people were exterminated in Concentration Camps in Germany.
