Bouchon invented a weaving loom that used paper tape, which were
punched to dictate the pattern of the cloth.
Jean
Falcon changed the paper tape to a chain of punched cards so that
they could be changed out faster in 1728.
Jacques
de Vaucanson may significant improvement in 1740 when he invented
a better loom that used a cylinder-punched mechanism.
1783
Joseph-Michel Montgolfier and his brother Jacques Etienne flew the
first hot air balloon made of cloth bags attached to a linen bag.
In
1801 Joseph Marie Jacquard continues to make improvements on what
is now known as the jacquard loom. His punched cards were made of
metal and were connected in an endless belt.
