 World War II Technology
Mid 1930s - 1940s

Konrad Zuse - Designed, developed, and in 1936 built the Z1 - the first binary digital computer in the world. Zuse continued his efforts and five years later built the Z3 - the first fully functional, program-controlled electromechanical digital computer.

John Mauchly - Developed the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC).

Marian Rejewski - first individual to break the German code

Alan Turing - Working at Bletchely Park, used the COLOSSUS machine to quickly and efficiently decipher German codes generated by the Enigma

1935: German Navy creates and begins utilizing the Enigma Machine to code messages.

1936: Konrad Zuse develops first binary digital computer, the Z1.

1939: British Secret Service use The COLOSSUS Machine at Bletchely Park to decipher coded messages generated by German Enigma machine.

1941: Konrad Zuse develops the first fully functional, program-controlled electromechanical digital computer, the Z3.

1946: John Mauchly develops the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC)
