Histogram

A graph that describes the grayscale distribution among all the pixels of an individual image. A histogram can be used to discern shadows, highlights, and distribution within the midtones.

Hue

Hue describes the entire range of colors of the spectrum; hue is the component that determines the color.

HyperText Markup Language (HTML)

A Hypertext document format used on the World Wide Web. "Tags" are embedded in the text. A tag consists of a "<", a "directive" (case insensitive), zero or more parameters and a ">". Matched pairs of directives, like "<TITLE>" and "</TITLE>" are used to delimit text which is to appear in a special place or style.

Hyperlink

A reference (link) from some point in one hypertext document to (some point in) another document or another place in the same document.

Hypermedia

An extension of hypertext to include graphics, sound, video and other kinds of data.

Hypertext

A term coined by Ted Nelson around 1965 for a collection of documents (or "nodes") containing cross-references or "links" which, with the aid of an interactive browser program, allow the reader to move easily from one document to another
