CMYK
Cyan,
Magenta, Yellow, BlacK
These are the printer colors used to create color prints. Most
Color Printers, Ink-Jet, Laser, Dye-Sublimation, Thermal, and
Crayon printers use these as their printer colors. It is the opposite
of RGB, and this is one of the
color management problems for computers. Converting RGB files
to CMYK files causes color shifts. When used by a printer, the
CMYK is also known as a reflective color since it is printed on
paper, or reflective films
Cathode-ray
tube (CRT)
An
electrical device for displaying images by exciting phosphor dots
with a scanned electron beam. CRTs are found in computer monitors,
televisions and oscilloscopes.
Color
Bit Depth
Relates
to the number of possible colors in a single image.
An
8-bit graphic can contain 256 colors.
A 16-bit graphic means over 65,000 colors.
A 24-bit graphic means 16.7 million colors.
Color
Channel
The
portion of an image that is associated with one of the primary
colors.For example, a RGB image
can be divided into three channels - one red, one green, and one
blue. When an object is printed, the CMYK
channels are separated into four color positives; each one is
used to produce the primary colors of cyan, magenta, yellow and
black.
Computer-assisted
instruction (CAI)
Computer-based instruction (CBI)
Learning
in which the computer provides a more or less self-contained basis
for the learning experience. Tutorials may be classified as CBI.
Cropping
The
process of cutting away the outer parts of an image. Usually paint
programs have a specific tool for this purpose.
