Blog Assignments

Post a comment on the course blog at: http://cuin7358-lit.blogspot.com in which you introduce yourself and briefly discuss your experience with technology in general, and with digital photography and digital storytelling, specifically. Also, please indicate what type of digital camera you have used in the past and discuss what technology skills you hope to gain from this course.

Hands-On Assignment 1:

  • Select any topic you wish (it can be related to children's literature, adult literature, or any other topic in which you have an interest) and find at least 10 digital images that could be used to help tell a story on that topic. The images may be downloaded from the web or may come from any other source you choose. Once you have the images, you should put them in order so that the begin to form a visual outline of a story.

If you want, you may use the program of your choice to arrange the pictures or you may simply bring the images with you to the next class on a CD, a flash drive or you may upload them to a location where you can access them from the CITE Lab next week.

As an example, here are some images that begin to form a visual outline of the 20th century, where each picture represents a different decade for the 1900s to the 1960s.

In addition, depending on your experience with a digital photography, you may want to begin taking some practice photos with a digital camera, if you have access to one. Remember that you may check out a digital camera from the CITE Lab if you do not have one you wish to use.

The pictures do not need to be on any particular subject, however, try not to delete all of the images you don't think are good, since reviewing poor quality images can often be a very helpful component of improving digital photographs.
